| Customer Reviews: Ok low cost unit if you want to connect your MP3 player July 4, 2010 paula (Illinois) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I mainly purchased the unit for playing my mp3 player outside and did not want to spend a lot of money. My player sits nicely on the top of the unit without dangling on the side. You have to have your own chord to connect to the unit which can be purchased in most stores or online.
The dvd player is located in a horrible spot and I only used a few times to see if it works. If I mainly used as a dvd player I might of brought the unit back. It is located at the bottom of the unit making it hard to open and close. There also seems to be a delay which makes you wonder if the unit is going to play the dvd. The unit located the dvd player on the bottom probably because of the cassette player. RCA should of focused on improving the DVD player instead of putting the cassette player on this unit.
I don't know of anyone who is using a cassette player but it came with the unit. I looked around the house and found some cassettes and the player works well with the cassettes and was able to record from the radio and sounded pretty good.
I was able to play the unit without reading the book. I do like the digital display and the radio seems to work good. The display is a little goofy. My unit displays tape like (EAPE) with the first E without the top horizontal line all in caps. CD is displayed in lower case. Audio in is displayed as (Audio In) Radio is displayed ( (RaD io). You wonder why would some displays list in a mix of capital letters and lower case? I had no problem with this but someone who is real picky would. I had no stations drifting. It has a equalizer which makes the music sound a little better.
All in all the unit is not perfect but for my purpose I am happy with it. If you want to use if for mainly playing DVD skip this unit.
Weird CD Player April 20, 2010 H. Rettop (Dallas, Tx) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I found this to be a great little unit in many ways (good sound, good ease of usage, saves settings with AA batteries installed) - but - as other reviewers have mentioned - the CD player is flawed. If you use the repeat or shuffle mode, CD's fade into the intro - cutting off a couple of seconds of the song. It's almost as though some idiot software programmer at RCA thought it would be hip to slide into the song by fading up. The truth of the matter is - it's not. It's annoying and distracting.
Also, when I finally found a number for RCA (took a good 20 minutes) and got an agent on the phone - she was crabby and couldn't be bothered with me. The woman actually hung up on me (and I was very polite, by the way). Is RCA simply unaware of how their products play? Do they use their own products? Does RCA take any interest in how they appear to their customers via their agents and feedback channels??
Too bad. RCA used to be state of the art. Now, it's just mediocre - and flailing.
CD player won't work.... April 17, 2010 Sophie Marcooper (Ohio) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We got this specifically to play CD for my son.....after a month or so, the cd player stopped working....sometimes it registers no cd, sometimes it won't play the first song on the cd, sometimes it'll play about 30 seconds of a song and just freeze. This is the second junky cd player I've bought in the last year...other was a sylvania, blue from Big Lots.....they just don't make quality like they used to!!! We have a Sony that is almost 15 years old and still works...skips occasionally, and this one was to replace a different RCA that was over 10 years old....crazy. Guess you really have to spend more for quality these days..
don't buy it January 30, 2010 aunt lottie 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
the play button is nearly impossible to push, but if you do manage to get it pushed down, the stop/eject button will not pop it up again (without brute force). it did this since day one. the cheap antenna broke within the first couple months. you need two hands to push the cd player back in. the button you push to switch from radio to cd to audio to cassette will switch when it wants to. the power button also has an attitude but not as much as the function button. and last but not least... the radio will save the station settings... until you unplug or turn off the player. i thought the sound quality was ok for the price. that's the only nice thing i have to say.
CD problem August 5, 2009 Anthony Maloley (Omaha, Nebraska, USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Pros: I like the controls, not hard to figure out. The sound is about as good as I expected, it sounds better when you are several feet away.
Cons: When you play a CD, each song is silent until two seconds in. It actually doesn't even show the zero or the one, it just starts at 00:02. This is extremely disappointing to me, and I'm going to return it.
