Perfect for youngsters because of big buttons and easy to use for them. The sound quality is fine and it appears sturdy enough to withstand some punishment.
 Why Waste Money February 22, 2010

I bought this to listen to audiobooks with earbuds. It does not have a jack for earbuds. The sound is terrible.
Even if you only want this for a child, my opinion is it is not worth the $30. Why waste money on junk? It is the only Sony product I've ever been so disappointed with. I have similar portable CD players that I've paid a little less for that sound better and lasted quite a long time.
I just want to say its not exactly what an adult would expect from a Sony and even if its for a child I think you can do better with some other brand.

This was very affordable and a very cute design. I wanted a portable, affordable CD player to bring with me to meetings to provide background music. This fits the bill perfectly! It's easy to use and the CD player works great! I haven't used the radio yet, but I am sure I will. I am very happy with this purchase.

the boombox makes a refreshing change from others, the dials are simple & large, & the box is of good construction with little extravagance; the radio does not have a digital readout (unsurpising at this price), & even the cd lid is manual. Be aware however that this is no ghetto blaster - volume is a little weak compared to all others i have had, teh only reaon for the dropped star.

I really like the unique design and footprint of this boombox. My daughter has Down syndrome, so the larger buttons and knobs were really a selling point. I was hoping for a little more presence with the sound though. Especially being a Sony product, I expected better quality. It seems that the larger footprint of the unit would allow for a little beefier speakers, but that is simply not the case. I have smaller devices that have far better sound quality. The sound is thin and tinny. My daughter doesn't mind though and thoroughly enjoys it.
